Rambling Rose Wallpaper – Morris & Co.
Depicting the iconic English rose—so often encountered in forest walks and cottage gardens—Rambling Rose is a design of twisting, turning stems and thorned branches that form a captivating, labyrinthine pattern. Symbolising earthy love and purity, the rose was a favoured motif of William Morris, appearing more often in his tapestries and poetry than in his wallpapers, making this design particularly special.
Originally created in 1877, Rambling Rose makes a long-awaited return to the Morris & Co. collection as part of the Emery Walker’s House collaboration. This revival pays tribute to Morris’s enduring love of nature and his creative friendship with typographer Sir Emery Walker.
